Work detail
"The poems in this lyrical and personal collection have three main subject areas, united by the theme of being displaced. One section recounts the poet's experiences living and teaching in Hong Kong, where she has resided for two decades. Another concerns on memories of her early life and her feelings of attachment to her home country of Canada, and Ontario, where she grew up. A third section concerns her maternal Ukrainian-Canadian ancestors, especially the women, who underwent the hardships of pioneering on the Saskatchewan prairie, starting in 1911. "--
