This volume presents the proceedings of an international conference held on 24-25 March, 1993 in London under the auspices of the Society for Underwater Technology. Contributions have been selected from three major areas of development: the measurement and prediction of the kinematics of waves and of combined waves and currents; the derivation of environmental forces on structures whether offshore or coastal; and problems peculiar to shallow or coastal waters, with particular emphasis on breaking waves.
