At the time of it's first publication the book was; "The most comprehensive volume ever published on Michelangelo." —from the dustjacket. The book was compiled by the 'Instituto Geografico De Agostini', featuring several well know authors in the field of art and architecture. Each author has their own section of the book detailing one of the various aspects of Michelangelo's work.
