Seit 1974 gehört Kulturanthropologie und Europäische Ethnologie zu den wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen, die an der Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität vertreten sind. Pädagogisches Kernstück der akademischen Ausbildung ist das »forschende Lernen«. Mit diesem Konzept wird seit nunmehr 20 Semestern versucht, ein wesentliches hochschulgesetzlich formuliertes Postulat in universitäre Praxis umzusetzen: die Einheit von Lehre, Forschung und Studium. Mit diesen NOTIZEN legt das Institut für Kulturanthropologie - das einzige dieses Namens im deutschen Sprachraum - eine Zwischenbilanz seiner Arbeit und seines Selbstverständnisses nach 10 Jahren vor. Dieser Band mit Aufsätzen von Lehrenden und Lernenden geht - mit Blick auf die vielen Leser im In- und Ausland - nach wie vor von dem Gedanken aus, daß es wichtig ist, gerade auch interdisziplinär »uns zu kommunizieren« (Goethe); er ist auch gedacht als Beitrag eines lungen Instituts zum Jubiläum seiner Alma mater, die zur gleichen Zeit 70 Jahre alt wird.
