The Stuttgart Neue Lusthaus was commissioned by Herzog Ludwig and built between 1584 and 1593 by its master builder Georg Beer. As one of the most important Renaissance buildings north of the Alps, the building already represented the political and cultural leadership of the Wuerttemberg duchy in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, only the ruins of the former palace built in the palace gardens remain. Within the scope of a research project at the University of Stuttgart, the changing history of the Neue Lusthaus has been reconstructed. The publication presents the newly gained insights in detail in terms of historical, stylistic, contextual and constructive contexts. Numerous historical illustrations, often unknown so far, supplement the explanations. Das Stuttgarter Neue Lusthaus wurde von Herzog Ludwig in Auftrag gegeben und von 1584 bis 1593 durch dessen Baumeister Georg Beer errichtet. Als eines der bedeutendsten Renaissance-Gebäude nördlich der Alpen repräsentierte das Gebäude bereits im 16. und 17. Jahrhundert den politischen und kulturellen Führungsanspruch des württembergischen Herzogtums. Heute zeugt nur noch die im Schlossgarten aufgestellte Ruine von dem einstigen Prachtbau. Im Rahmen eines Forschungsprojektes der Universität Stuttgart konnte die wechselhafte Geschichte des Neuen Lusthauses rekonstruiert werden. Jene neu gewonnenen Erkenntnisse stellt die Publikation im Hinblick auf geschichtliche, stilistische, kontextuelle und konstruktive Zusammenhänge detailliert vor. Zahlreiche historische Abbildungen, vielfach bislang unbekannt, ergänzen die Ausführungen.
