A novel set at the time of the elections of the first president of the Czech Republic in which a retired Czech actor and his friend involved in a community theater production must resolve their divergent opinions about the theater. The novel features a dramatization of Dostoevsky's novel Selo Stepanchikovo i ego obitateli.
