Jump into the Future
Work detail
An extensive exhibition of works gathered by the German collector Thomas Borgmann. Jump into the Future - Art from the 90's and 2000's. The Borgmann Donation reflects the diversity of contemporary art produced during this pivotal decade. The '90s were typified by various points of turbulence: the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Yugoslav Wars, conflicts in the Middle East and the September 11 attacks in the United States. It was also the epoch of the global digital revolution, the impact of which was unimaginable at the time. New economies began to blossom and a global art world emerged. A newfound sensitivity to gender diversity and queer identity politics shaped social debate. The exhibition is compiled by Stedelijk-curator Martijn van Nieuwenhuyzen. From 12 March onwards, the exhibition will be gradually phased out, but the following artists will still be available for viewing: Cosima von Bonin, Enrico David, Thomas Eggerer, Michael Krebber, Lucy McKenzie, Matt Mullican, Paulina Olowska, Jeroen de Rijke, Willem de Rooij, Wolfgang Tillmans, Cerith Wyn Evans, Heimo Zobernig. The works of the following artist have been displayed in this exhibition at an earlier date: Isa Genzken, Jack Goldstein, Martin Kippenberger, Jutta Koether, Henrik Olesen, Jorge Pardo, John Stezaker, Christopher Williams.
