This report describes the modern research-based pharmaceutical industry with particular reference to its structure and activities in seven countries: Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, drawing heavily on the findings of a special questionnaire funded by the Office of Health Economics.
