This novel "Young Marshal" is the long rumored last incomplete work of Eileen Chang, or Zhang Ailing (1920<U+2013>1995). Based on true story of Zhang Xueliang (1901<U+2013>2001) and his mistress, this book tells the romance between the young marshal and the 14-year-old lady in the early 20th century. Years after Zhang Ailing and Zhang Xueliang both deceased, Zhang Ailing<U+2019>s heritage committee finally agreed to put this unreleased manuscript into publication.
