Includes two databases on people considered important in the historical/cultural development of the German-speaking countries of Europe from the Middle Ages to the present. Databases can be searched together or separately. Deutsche biographische Enzyklopädie includes entries with biographical information for approximately 56,000 individuals and the Deutscher biographischer Index includes shorter biographical information on approximately 450,000 individuals.
