The medals of Karl Goetz
Work detail
The book is an extremely well illustrated catalogue of the Medals produced by the German Medalist Karl Xavier Goetz. Goetz was a prolific artist perhaps best known for his satirical themed medals of World War I; the most popular (and controversial) of which is the Sinking of the Lusitania medal he produced in August of 1915. Originally published in 1967, with a publication limited to 500 books, it was reprinted in 1980. Kienast published a supplement to his original text titled "Goetz II. A Supplement to The Medals of Karl Goetz" in 1986. (The copyright has been transferred to the publisher of the www.karlgoetz.com website)
