Provides location of town, general population, major abbeys, schools,hospitals land holders (does not list individual persons), and description of land. This is a record of land value, tax based property, etc. first published in 1831. Excerpt: RYHALL (ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST}, a parish, in the union of STAMFORD, hundred of EAST, county of RUTLAND, 2 miles (N. by E.) from Stamford ; contain- ing, with the chapelry of Essendine, and the hamlet of Belmisthorpe, 830 inhabitants. The parish comprises about 2580 acres, of which the soil is various ; the sur- face is partly hilly, and the lower grounds are watered by a rivulet which sometimes overflows the adjacent meadows. The living is a discharged vicarage, valued in the king's books at 13. 17. ; net income, 295 ; patron and impropriator, Marquess of Exeter : the glebe com- prises 164 acres.
