In commemoration of its 45th anniversary, the Museo Nacional de San Carlos, opened the exhibition dedicated to post-impressionist master painter Joaquín Sorolla (b. Spain 1863-1923) and his contemporaries comprising more than 50 pieces, mostly from the holdings of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Havana, Cuba along with pieces from the Museum of San Carlos, the Franz Mayer Museum and some private collections in Mexico. The exhibition presents a collection of full of light and colorful painted scenes of the everyday life in Spain during the late 19th century and early 20th century through a selection of paintings by the Spanish masters of Luminism style: Joaquín Sorolla, Manuel Benedito, Ignacio Pinazo, Hermenegildo Anglada, Eduardo Chicharro, José Luis Benllure, Gonzalo Bilbao, Santiago Rusiñol and Ignacio Zuloaga.
