A history and genealogy of one branch of the Keyes family
Work detail
This is the story of one branch of the family "Keyes" in America. It traces my Grandmother, Fannie Bell Keyes, (1880 - 1967 in Yukon Oklahoma), to Solomon Keyes (1623 -1702 Chelmsford, Massachusetts, British Colonial America). The first record of Solomon in America was his marriage to Frances Grant in Newbury October 2, 1653. It speculates that Solomon Keyes was born in London England and might have come to New England in 1630 on the ship "Pied Cow". It also deals with two others of the name Keyes - Captain Henry Keyes, who received a license to sail the ship "Pied Cow" to Piscataqua (modern day Portsmouth, NH) in 1629 for relief of the planters there; and Robert Keyes, whos first record in America was the birth of his daughter, "Sarah Keyes), occurred in Watertown, Massachusetts, 26 March, 1633.
