Oro/Gold
Work detail
This autobiography is a fantastic, witty and somewhat shocking account of an ex-con who decides on his own way to make it rich - gold-digging. The author travels to the jungles of South America in seek of his quarry and is in trouble from the outset. A loose-knit band of naer-do-wells accompany him on his quest to for his fortune and theirs only to find that the law isn't the only obstacle in their way; he needs to get his gear to the heart of the jungle to do his prospecting, which means dragging it through mile after mile of muddy forest floor, sometimes for days on end. He is eventually rewarded when he finds he has struck a seam of gold that throws out some huge nuggets. However, half of Zyke's life has been spent squandering previous fortunes, and he has to figure out what he's going to do if he ever gets this one out of the grip of the rain forests of South America. A fantastic read, would definitely recommend
