Work detail
Prepared by the National Museum in Szczecin in cooperation with the National Museum M. K. Čiurlionis in Kaunas, the exhibition presents the Lithuanian art of the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and the first decades of the last century. It shows the intensively developing parallel to Polish modernism and the early avant-garde. In the space of the early modernist building of the National Museum in Szczecin, the curators decided to present nearly 100 carefully selected works from the Kaunas collection by artists such as Petras Kalpokas, Antanas Žmuidzinavičius, Antanas Samuolis, Adomas Galdikas and Antanas Gudaitis and Victoras Vizgirda. There is also a representation of the works of the most famous Lithuanian artist at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries - Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, who is considered to be the national Lithuanian bard. Exhibition: National Museum Szczecin, Poland (September 5 - November 29, 2020).
