Pastor Daniel Louissaint is ousted by his illegitimate daughter, Baby, and her group of off-beat friends. Kettly Mars (1958) is an award winning Haitian poet and novelist. Among her awards are Prix Jacques-Stephen Alexis (1996), Prix Senghor (2006), Bourse Barbancourt (2011), Prince Claus Award (2011). Her other published novels include Kasalé (2003), L'heure hybride (2005), Fado (2008), Saisons sauvages (2010) and Le prince noir de Lillian Russell (2011), among others.
