Tom DeLay tells his own story about his life and how he became a Congressman. He tells the sad story of how political opponents attacked him through the courts since they couldn't win against him with the voters. Three episodes in his life color his thinking: 1. Being held captive by Fidel Castro's thugs in Havana during a stopover on a flight home from Venezuela in 1959 showed him the face of tyranny. 2. Being enthralled as a young man by Barry Goldwater's speech to the 1964 Republican National Convention confirmed him as a lifelong conservative. 3. Becoming a born-again Christian after his first term in Washington changed his life and view of the world completely. His five suggestions for how conservative Republicans can positively affect our Country are worthy of serious study. A surprisingly good book.
