Upon her arrival at the dark dormitory of Central University, Martha Meredith is greeted by Dean Amanda Jones with strict instructions to turn any object found in the dormitory over to the institution at once. Martha's curiosity is aroused, and her roommate's hobby of collecting odd pitchers provides a clue to the mystery. Martha and Chubs are pulled into a mystery that leads them to a granite toad and a pair of silver oak-leaf pitchers with surprising inscriptions, and finally to a fortune in jewels.
