8vo. pp. [24], 78, [2]. Later half morocco. First edition in English, the sheets of the 1688 first issue (titled 'Elegies of Old Age,' five copies known) reissued under a revised title, without the terminal advertisement leaf present in the earlier issue. The maiden effort of a poet's 'idle hours at Sea' and subsequent 'imployment of some of my vacant time a Shoar,' combined with a brief biography of the supposed author 'Gallus,' the translation is dubiously attributed to the young Hovenden Walker (1666?-1725). See D. Wing (ed.), Short-title Catalogue of Books Printed in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and British America, and of English Books Printed in Other Countries, 1641–1700. 4 vols.
